Candied Yams
Serve these yams with your turkey, or even better, have them for dessert too! This will be a favourite dish on the table this year. Expect to hear many 'oh my's'.
Ingredients
- 4 medium yams, chopped large
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 Tbsp. Coconut Sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. sea saltTopping
- 1 cup pecans, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup Coconut Sugar
- 1/2 almond flour
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- Green onions, chopped (optional)
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Place yams in a large pot of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and allow to simmer for 15 minutes until soft.
- Drain water from pot.
- Add all ingredients to the pot (except toppings). Mix together until yams have a smooth consistency.
- Spread evenly in a baking dish.
- In a small bowl, combine all your topping ingredients together to create a crumble.
- Evenly coat your yams with pecan crumble.
- Place in oven and bake for 20 minutes.
- Top with green onions and serve.
